A License Protects Your Best Friend
Use the License Lookup Tool
Found a pet? Enter the license number on the tag to reunite them!
License LookupPet Loss Safety Net
Dogs and cats with a license and microchip in Multnomah County are over 3.3 times more likely to be reunited with their owners than pets without.
Instant identification
A license tag provides an immediate way for neighbors, finders, and Animal Services officers to identify your pet and contact you if they ever wander off. A registered microchip ID is your failsafe if a collar comes off - ask your local vet about microchip services.
Safe From Rabies
A licensed pet is a vaccinated pet. Licenses and rabies vaccination go hand in hand by design in Oregon to maintain the herd immunity coverage we need to keep our population of pets AND people safe from rabies.
Have your rabies vaccination certificate ready to upload when you license. Ask a participating veterinarian about licensing to make a one-stop-shop when you bring your pet in for vaccines.
A Ticket Home
Animal Services Officers may be able to bring your lost pet right back to you without ever needing to spend a night in a shelter if your pet has a current license tag.
Support Your Local Shelter Pets
A license keeps your individual pet safe and pays it forward to support the other lost and found pets of your community.
