Wapato Marsh Advisory Lifted for People, But Danger Remains for Pets
The health advisory for recreational use at Wapato Marsh (Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge) has been lifted. While cyanotoxin levels may be safe for people, they are STILL ELEVATED and UNSAFE for Dogs.
- Keep all pets OUT of the water!
- Do not let them drink the water!
Algae blooms can change quickly. Always look for scummy, pea-green, or blue-green water before letting pets near the water.
Keep your furry friends safe! 🐕
- If your pet gets in scummy or discolored water, rinse them off with tap water right away. And don’t let them lick their fur.
- If your pet seems sick after going in or near water, call a veterinarian right away.
