Kitty hit by car, does anyone recognize her?
I witnessed a small cat get hit by a car at the intersection of NE Oregon St and NE 102nd today (Thursday 5/28/26) at approximately 12:30 pm. I got the kitty into a carrier I had in my car and rushed it to a nearby veterinarian. Unfortunately the kitty had passed away on the ride to the vet. Kitty had no collar and was not chipped. Per the vet, kitty appeared to be approximately 1 year old and had recently (although could not determine how recently) had kittens because she still had milk. I am heartbroken to see this happen and that she didn’t make it. I am concerned about there being kittens needing their mom. I went back to the area and talked to people walking around the neighborhood and knocked on a few doors this afternoon and evening. One homeless lady said she recognized the kitty and had put food out for her a few times. No one else I spoke with recognized the kitty. The kitty looked well fed so she may have a home so the kittens are going to hopefully be ok. The vet offered and will have the kitty cremated. Kitty was a tortoiseshell (tortie), on the small side with beautiful soft long fur. Posting hoping she has a family looking for or someone recognizes her and knows anything about her kittens that may need help.
