When it comes to investigating cases of severe animal abuse or neglect, securing forensic evidence is often the key to justice. Thanks to a generous donation from the Troutdale Home Depot, Multnomah County Animal Services is now better equipped to do just that. We are so grateful for their gift of a large freezer, which will be used to preserve evidence from our animal investigations, and seek justice for animals that have been harmed. Having a large dedicated freezer ensures that we can work more effectively with the Oregon Humane Society's Animal Crimes Forensic Center, a one-of-a-kind facility on the West Coast, right in our community! The only similar facility is in Florida, operated by the ASPCA. Completed in 2022, this center provides essential forensic support for animal cruelty cases, helping to build strong legal cases that hold offenders accountable. Thanks to Oregon Humane Society and their donors, their forensic services are available for Multnomah County Animal Services investigations when needed at no cost. We’re grateful for this invaluable partnership, serving the animals of our community.
