Pepper the dog is settling into her home and leaving the cat to do her thing! Her adopter is working hard on manners training and some serious dog park and daycare running.

A big thank you to Melissa Etheridge; Amy Ray and Emily Saliers of The Indigo Girls; and Monqui Presents for their support of adoption and fostering at their Edgefield performance on July 28, 2025.
Fostering can be a family and community affair, as in the case of Laverne the kitten. A young neighbor visited regularly to socialize Laverne, and made a picture as a gift for her adopter, Carolyn.
New Wheels, New Look: Thank You for Making Our Transport Vans Shine!

We're thrilled to announce that MCAS is sporting some fantastic newly wrapped transport vans, thanks to the incredible generosity of Friends of Multnomah County Shelter Animals, and our community!
Hope the dog was severely underweight when rescued by Animal Services Field Officers. Hope regained her health in a volunteer foster home. Now adopted, Hope helps her new sibling dogs thrive.
Board Unanimously Approves Next Steps for New Shelter Facility

The Multnomah County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution that advances replacing the Animal Services shelter by authorizing the next steps in planning a new facility.
Abby and Tony the cats have adjusted to their new home after being adopted in December 2023. Sometimes it takes a little longer for cats like Abby to warm up and lean in to the pets.
Thank you to staff for coming in on December 25 to clean kennels, provide special toys and treats to the pets, hold dog playgroups, administer medications, and provide emergency services.
Cooper the cat is sweet, playful, and affectionate. He chases and plays with the other cats and snuggles, chirping and chasing toys, and purring to show his people he's happy.
