Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering. Volunteers are valued members of Multnomah County Animal Services. By choosing to volunteer with us, you are helping to create an environment of respect, responsibility, and compassion toward animals. Volunteers are instrumental in supporting staff and assisting in the care and adoption of shelter animals.

Steps to Volunteering:
• 1. Fill out a New Volunteer Application.
• 2. Within 15 days, you will receive an email about attending an orientation.
• 3. Attend orientation.
• 4. Interview with the Volunteer Coordinator.
• 5. You will be scheduled for your volunteer shifts.
• 6. Additional training will be required for all dog volunteers.
Volunteer Requirements:
• Must be 16 years or older (16-17 year olds can volunteer with parent approval)
• Youths ages 12-15 years may volunteer with a parent or guardian present at all times.
• Able to volunteer 8 hours a month for a year
• Able to commit to scheduled volunteer times
• Able to squat, bend, twist, lift and stand for long periods of time when working directly with animal care
• Work well with people – all volunteer positions work directly with the public, staff, and other volunteers
• Comply with Multnomah County Animal Services Ordinances
• Able to pass a background check
